Although I wasn't a constant in Brakell's life, I was a regular, and though she didn't always recognize me, it didn't keep me from trying to interact. I'm glad I did so, as she began to open up more and more every time I got the chance to spend time with her and the family. I never missed a chance to attend a party or BBQ, since, not only did it mean I got a chance to socialize with Isabelle and enjoy discussions with Paul that were not work related, but I got to play with the babies.

I am also honored to have had the privilege of having Miss B as my flower girl at my wedding. When I first asked her mother and father, they were hesitant, considering her age and the potential for disaster. However, when I saw Brakell in the dress and appreciated just how well it fit her, I decided to take the risk. Besides, you can only ask for so much from toddlers on a hot summer day.

She wandered about in that dress as happy as could be, until showtime, at which time her little lip began to quiver and tears began to brim from her eyes. Apparently too much pressure for one so little, mommy and I assured her that she was going to do a wonderful job and that everyone couldn't wait to see her in her lovely dress. As she stepped out to face her fear, she made it to Daddy in the back row, and that was enough for me.

I managed to get those smiles back at picture time, as stubborn as she was trying to be, and I am thankful that I was able to capture those memories in photo, to have a tangible piece of one of my favorite memories of my favorite little girl.
