Avis “Joan” Clous 75, of Kingsley died on Wednesday April 7, 2010 at Country Pleasures Foster Care. Joan was born on June 9, 1934 in Kalkaska, the daughter of Bert and Marguerite (Anker) Miller. She was a member of St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church. On February 8, 1958 she married Ralph H. Clous at St. Francis. Joan was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to those that knew her. She always had such a contagious smile and a story to tell you, weather or not you wanted to hear it. Joan helped out making coffee at the St. Mary Hannah Chicken Dinner for many years. Some of us may even remember the quilts and cakes she used to make. She loved to cook and spend time with family and friends. She liked to go to “the woods”, over in Kalkaska. She loved music, and she loved to make you laugh. Joan retired from Traverse State Bank as a bank teller. She is survived by her son, Ted (Emily) Clous of Mt. Pleasant, her sister Lorene Sieffert of Kalkaska, and sister-in-law Lucille Miller of Traverse City and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph H. Clous, (7) siblings; infant Yvonne Miller, Nita Richardson, Newton Miller, Maisy Thomson, Myrna Spencer, Wayne Miller, and Edna Crane. Visitation will be held on Sunday April 11, 2010 from 5-8 pm at St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be said at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Church on Monday at 11am, with Rev. Michael Conner presiding. Burial will take place in St. Mary of Hannah Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral home, Kingsley.
