Karon married David “Ike” Stokes on November 10, 1979 in Kingsley. Karon owned and operated the Village Eatery for 16 years. She also, worked for Women’s Resource Center and Tendercare of Traverse City.
Karon enjoyed cooking, playing her favorite lottery numbers, and driving around in her Mustang with the music blaring, especially “Red Solo Cup”.
She will be greatly missed by her children: Kim Yuhasz of Lancaster, CA, Denise (Brian) Mclain of Kingsley, Michael (Vickie) Stokes of Kaleva, David (Jenn) Stokes of Kingsley, Bill Stokes of Kingsley, Cindy (Miguel) Robles of Reidsville, GA, and Sherry Stokes of Kingsley; 20 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren with one on the way in March; siblings: Shirley, Rosie, Darlene, Ruth, Carol, and Calvin.
Besides her parents, Karon was preceded in death by brothers: Clif, Graydon, and Ron.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Kingsley United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to a Go Fund Me account set up in Karon’s name.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Tendercare of Traverse City for the care and compassion they showed Karon during her brief stay.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Kingsley.
