

Lela B. Casselman, age 92, of Kingsley passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Tendercare of Traverse City. She was born September 25, 1921 in Copemish to Clyde A. and Geneva L. (Watson) Lyke.
Lela graduated from Mesick High School in 1939. On March 22, 1945 she married the late Donald E. Casselman in Ypsilanti MI. Together they raised 3 children.
When Lela wasn’t home taking care of her family, she was working at Setwells Manufacturing and later at the Traverse City State Hospital where she retired in 1983.
Lela was a long time member of the Mayfield Church, Treasurer of the Rebekah Lodge in Kingsley, member of the TOPS Club in the late fifties, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Kingsley. She enjoyed being an Avon Rep. for over 20 years. She also enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening.
Lela was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a strong supporter of her beloved Kingsley community.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters: Leann (John) Ufer of Sault Ste. Marie and Nancy (Harry) Muse of Williamsburg; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and a cousin Viola (George Eckert) Anderson.
Besides her parents, Lela was preceded in death by her husband Donald, son David Casselman, great granddaughter Lily Hanna, sister Inez Lyke and brother Wardell Lyke.
A visitation will be held Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A funeral will be held Monday, November 4, 2013 at 1 pm also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Cleon Twp. Cemetery in Copemish.
