Marvin Edward Hilden

Marvin E. Hilden, age 81, of Traverse City passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 at his home. He was born September 14, 1935 in Ludington to Lloyd and Beth (Stever) Hilden. Marvin started working at the age of 12 , and at 14, Marvin worked as a deckhand on both the Millwakee and the Badger, out of Ludington. On May 13, 1965 Marvin married the late Eva Tharp in Traverse City. Together they raised six children. After eight years as a deckhand, Marvin went on to auto body mechanic and welder and worked for several auto repair shops in the area. In his spare time, Marvin enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. Marvin is survived by his children: Thomas (Denice) Leonard of Fountain, Tandy (Dan) Korb of Traverse City, Tracy (Josh) Smith of Kingsley, Tresha Willis of Traverse City, and Troy (Jennifer) Hilden of Kingsley; 11 grandchildren: Becky, Thomas (Kristi), Heather (Ben), Mason, Thomas, Anthony (Dani), Corryn (Chris), Joshua, Hannah, Gabriel, and Trace; Seven Great Grandchildren: Brandon, Daniel, Logan, Harmony, Melody, Nevaeh, and Madyline. Besides his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty and second wife Eva in 2012 and daughter Tammy Tharp in 2008; siblings: Elaine Krawczyk, Leon Hilden, Shirley Keson, William Hilden, and Ivan Hilden. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Kingsley United Methodist Church.,113 Blair St., Kingsley. Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Kingsley.
