Reverend Father Michael Preston Conner

Reverend Father Michael Preston Conner, 75 of Traverse City, Michigan. passed away on February 8, 2021 of complications from liver cancer. Father Mike was born on November 3, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Gordon and Eleanor (Schwartz) Conner.

A graduate of St. Mary’s and St. John’s Provincial Seminary, Father Mike was ordained to the priesthood on November. 29, 1985 serving the Diocese of Gaylord. Father Mike recently retired from active ministry after 35 years due to health issues. His is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by brothers Gordon Allen of Silver Springs, Maryland, John of Salt Lake City, Utah, and nephews Kevin, Christopher and Alexander.

There will be a Vigil Service at Immaculate Conception Church in Traverse City, Michigan on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 7:00 pm with visitation from 5-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior. The Most Reverend Walter Hurley, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Gaylord, will preside together with concelebrants who are able to attend. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Kewadin, Michigan in the spring.

For those not wishing or cannot attend in person, his service will be live streamed by the Church. Arrangements entrusted to the Covell Funeral Home of Kingsley.

While Fr Mike was our Pastor I had the pleasure of serving with him on several committee’s. He was one of the nicest and most personable priest that was always very appreciative of the things that we did for the Parish, and thanked us often. We will miss him and I know He is with God. 🙏 Bob

Father Mike came to Hillman 5 years ago and we sure enjoyed his sense of humor and my daughters really loved alter serving for him. He had a big impact on their faith and I am so thankful for the years we had with him and blessed to have known such a wonderful man. We loved Fr. Mike he was not only a priest but a pastor. He always put his people first. And he made our church the most beautiful in the Diocese. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a wonderful dinner guest. We shall surely miss him.
