Penny S. Wheelock, age 62 of Kingsley passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 26, 2021 at Munson Medical Center. She was born on May 25, 1958 in Carson City, MI. to the late Robert and Marilyn (Arndt) Williamson.
Penny was born and raised in Midland, but graduated from the Leelanau Boarding School in 1976. She worked as a mail carrier in the Mid-Michigan area before moving to Kingsley in the mid 1990’s.
Penny worked many jobs in the Grand Traverse area, but most recently recognized for her part-time work at the Northland Foods Center in Kingsley. Penny was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed knitting and photography, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Penny will be missed by her children, Rebecca Barker, Robert (Kalen) Steger, Kiel (Shauna) Steger, grandchildren Christian, Noah, Kielee, Kaiden Keagan, and Ford. She is also survived by her sisters Pam (Don) Jakes and Peg (Tom) Steeh, also many nieces, nephews, and friends. Penny will also be greatly missed by her beloved four-legged friend and companion “Lucy”.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 5th at 5:00 p.m. from the Covell Funeral Home, 300 N. Brownson St. in Kingsley. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
