Ruth H. Gersky, age 90 of Buckley passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at her home. Ruth was born on June 12, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to Earl and Winifred (Hurry) Knight. She attended Cass Tech Schools, and lived her early years there.
On November 20, 1948 at St. Casimer Church in Detroit she married Claude Gersky. The couple raised their family in the Detroit area for many years, and upon Claude’s retirement they moved north to Buckley in 1980 to a home they had built. They also enjoyed 27+ years spending winters in Dade City, Florida.
Ruth loved to cook, crochet, do needlepoint, and canning. Other favorite activities included doing crossword puzzles and playing bingo. The family reminisced about how she never complained about anything, and was also always there for Claude as a loving companion.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 69 years Claude, children; Doreen (Bill) Keeley, Claude (Gail) Gersky, Debra (Michael) Tripp, Denise (Mark) Tripp, Dawn Myers (Darren Herron), Donna (Don) Cunningham, Pete Gersky (Peggy O’Neill), Kevin Gersky, Kathleen Morrow (Rick Morrow), and Patricia (Ronald) Anthony. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and sister in law Rita Perron. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church in Hannah (Kingsley), Fr. Gerald Okoli officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 13th from 3-8 pm at the Covell Funeral Home, 200 N. Brownson Ave. in Kingsley and at the church on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary of Hannah Cemetery.
