

Nicky attended Kersley High School in Flint but didn’t graduate until she returned to school and recieved her diploma from Traverse City High School in 1990.Nicky was a cosmetologist, but also worked for Burwoods, the café at Kmart and the Main Street Café in Buckley. She served on the Buckley Village Council for 45 years. On July 25, 1953, Nicky married the late D. Willard Hartzell in Flint. Together they raised 5 children.
Nicky was very involved in her community and schools. She was always participating in one school fund raiser or another. You could always find her in the bleachers at any of the kid’s games, cheering them on. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing the lotto. Nicky loved meeting up with her friends to have breakfast and talk and laugh about life.
Nicky will be greatly missed by her children: Toni (Mike) Spicuzza of Alto, Ronald (Melva) Hartzell of Northwood, OH, Scott (Deb) Hartzell of Buckley, Sheila (Tony) Gokey of Buckley, and Nicole (Gary) Lesperance of Buckley; 14 Grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; Siblings: Matthew (Lori) Gunsell, Edward (Marge) Gunsell, and Margaret (Gilbert) Snider; many nieces, nephews, and great friends.
Besides her parents, Nicky was preceded in death by her husband in 2002, grandson Griffin, siblings: Willis, Annabelle, Donnabelle, and Ila Mae.
A visitation will be held today, March 12, 2012 from 6-8pm at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A funeral will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 1 pm also at the funeral home with visitation 1 hour prior.
Memorial contributions in Nicky’s name may be directed to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
