

Amos Henry Gobble, 92, of Meadowview, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday (February 27, 2017). Amos was born on August 26, 1924 to the late Andrew & Maggie Gobble in Washington County, VA. He was the youngest and last surviving of 10 children.
Amos was a hardworking carpenter and farmer, and also was a retiree from the Barter Theatre. He loved working in his garden, farming tobacco, fixing and building things in his shop. He especially loved his dog and close companion, Pete.
In addition to his parents, Amos was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Gobble; and eight sisters, Hettie, Della, Ollie, Bessie, Bertha, Gertrude, Ruby, and Lilly.
Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife Cosby Gobble; three sons, Hisel Gobble & wife Robin, Larry Gobble & wife Linda, and Lannie Gobble & wife Debbie; two daughters, Linda Selfe & husband Larry and Tammy Garland & husband Tommy; nine grandchildren, Ricky Gobble, Randy Gobble, Travis Selfe, David Gobble, Brian Selfe, Keith Gobble, Devin Mijal, Julianna Gobble, and Brittany Widener; three step-grandchildren, Brent Barrett, Leslie Honeycutt, and Erica Garland; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will greet guests and share memories on Thursday (March 2, 2017) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Christian Church (Christ’s Church) (13108 Lindell Rd. Meadowview, VA 24361). Funeral services will follow with Brother Ben Repass officiating.
Committal services will be held on Friday (March 3, 2017) at 1 p.m. at Knollkreg Memorial Park (556 Walden Rd. NE Abingdon, VA 24210).
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
