Barbara Gerelene Brummitt

Barbara G. “Jerry” Brummitt, 78, of Kingsport, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 9, 1944 in Church Hill to the late Charlie and Dorothy (Goad) Simpson.

Jerry retired from Tennessee Eastman after many years of dedicated service. She was always a friend to everyone she meet along the way especially to her family. Jerry cared for and took care of her family until her last days, that’s who she was. She attended church as often as she could.

In addition to her parents Jerry was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Brummitt; children, Bobby G. Brummitt, Rhonda M. Hyatt and Charles D. "Chuckey" Brummitt.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Miranda Fields (Mike), Darren Brummitt (Sabrina), Krista Parks and Shyanne Brummitt; eight great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews and special friends and family.

The Brummitt family will gather to greet friends and share memories on Thursday, September 15, 2022 in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home from 5 pm – 7 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 7 pm with Jerry’s brother Rev. Terry K. Simpson officiating. Committal Service and Interment will take place Friday, September 16, 2022 in the Garden of The Mausoleum inside East Lawn Memorial Park beginning at 12 pm.
