

Barbara Ellen Flannagan, 75, entered into the loving arms of Jesus during the evening hours of Thursday (April 30, 2020). Barbara was born on May 30, 1944 in Kingsport, TN to the late William Perry & Clara Ellen (Wright) Shaffer.
Barbara attended Salem United Methodist Church and Shades of Grace Church. She enjoyed playing cards, making Sunday dinners for her family, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Thomas Henry Flannagan; son, Thomas Lloyd “Tum” Flannagan; daughter, Neashao McGathey; five brothers, Tom Shaffer, James “Shorty” Shaffer, Lonnie Shaffer, Paul Carrier, and Robert Carrier; and sister, Susie Pearl Bowser.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Mike Shaffer & wife Pinkie and Charles Shaffer; step-son, Ralph Flannagan; daughters, Cindy Flannagan and Neeica Mull; brother, Bill Shaffer; two sisters, Peggy Rice and Dorothy Hutchins; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; special friends, Nadine Prater, Jean Carlton, Martha Castle, and Pat Morris; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Barbara will be laid to rest on Tuesday (May 5, 2020) at 11 a.m. in the Garden of Everlasting Life I at East Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Lew Kiser and Pastor Will Shewey officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara’s caregiver, Patty for all of the kind and compassionate care that was given to Barbara in her time of need.
