Barbara Gagnon

Born on January 10, 1942, in Dundee, Scotland, to the late Aleksander Kupisiewicz and Janina Kupisiewicz. Basia lived a life filled with love, resilience, and joy. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kind spirit and sharp wit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benoit David Gagnon and brother, John Kupisiewicz.

Basia worked for many years as a food service manager at Vista High School, Vista, CA, where she brought care and dedication to her work and touched the lives of countless students and staff.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—shopping at Goodwill, taking spontaneous road trips, and most of all, spending time with her large and loving family. Her home was always open, her hugs were strong, and her laughter was contagious.

Barbara is survived by her beloved children, Janina Sigrest, John Sonner, Mona Mondazze, and Gigi Housley; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and her love for them was boundless.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., followed by a service from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664, Kingsport, TN. All who knew and loved Barbara are welcome to attend and celebrate her remarkable life.

Her memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the love she gave, and the lives she touched.
