Betty Davis

She was born on December 18, 1934, in Scott County, Virginia to the late Samuel and Elsie Virginia Bragg Davis. She married Marion Davis on June 14, 1952, in Scott County, Virginia and lived in the Way Cross Community of Hawkins County, Tennessee for over 60 years. Betty was a former member of both First Freewill Baptist Church of Morrison City and Solomon’s Temple Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Marion “M.O.” Davis in March 2008; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Darrell Bishop; four sisters, Mary Kate Cassell, Sallie Freeman, Margaret Evelyn McMullins, and Helen Nelms; four brothers, William Lee “Bill” Davis, Samuel Robert Davis, Thomas Woodrow Davis, and James Kelly “Jim” Davis.

Betty is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Oak Hill Memorial Park’s Garden of the Resurrection with Pastor Truman Ferguson officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 12:55 P.M.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Holston Rehab and Gentiva Hospice for their loving care for Betty over the last five years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Betty’s honor be made to a charity of your choice.
