Buford Laney

Buford Laney, 85, went to join his wife on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Asbury Place of Kingsport. Mr. Laney was born on February 18, 1929 in Scott County, Virginia the son of the late George Monroe Laney and Mamie Jane Hargis Laney. He was retired from Eastman with forty years of service in Guard Force and was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lou Rogers Laney; and four sisters, Irene Hager, Ina Ruth Reece, Clarice Dingus and Kathleen Collins. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Dodson and husband James, of Kingsport, TN; two sons, Harvey Laney and wife Phyllis, of Kingsport, TN and George Laney, Jr. of Gray, TN; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Oma Lederer and Bessie Hammonds and husband Charles, both of Kingsport, TN; and special nephew, Donnie Rogan. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1444 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport, TN 37660. Funeral Services for Mr. Buford Laney will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 7:00pm at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Cecil Sturgill and Rev. Millard Porter officiating. Graveside Services will be held Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 2:00pm in Mausoleum II at East Lawn Memorial Park.
