

Rev. Burnice Cormier, 87, of Blountville, passed away on September 8, 2022, after a brief stay in the hospital. He was a Cajun, born in Lake Arthur, Louisiana, on December 2, 1934, to the late Zepherin (ZN) and Rosa Cormier. Burnice was a roofer by trade, doing business all around the Tri-Cities area as Cormier & Sons Roofing - "The best on top!" However, he was first and foremost an Apostolic Pentecostal preacher for the most significant years of his life. He was ordained with the United Pentecostal Church, and he was a charter member of the Apostolic Ministers Fellowship for many years. As a young preacher, he pastored briefly in Doucette, Texas. He ministered in several churches through the years, including working under Rev. Murray Burr, Port Arthur, Texas, and Rev. C. W. Shew, Oakdale, Louisiana. In 1967, he moved from Texas to the Bristol area, where he founded a home-missions United Pentecostal Church in Bristol, Virginia -- Oneness Pentecostal Church of the Apostolic Faith. After retiring from active ministry, he spent the last several years of his life as a faithful member of Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, Bristol, Tennessee, where he served as an honorary trustee until his death. He especially loved being with his family and his church family. He was a faithful servant of his Lord Jesus Christ for over 66 years and a faithful member of his home church, Apostolic Faith Tabernacle in Bristol, TN.
In addition to his parents, Burnice is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mary Ann Lassiter- Cormier, his infant son, Randy Alan Cormier; grandson, Allun Cormier; brothers, Lonnie Cormier, and Curley Cormier; sister, Elosha Lee LeBlanc.
Those left to cherish his memory include three sons, Ricky Lynn Cormier, Kenneth Ray (Kathy) Cormier, and Timmy Duane (Jackie) Cormier; nine grandchildren, Ricky Cormier, Angela Cormier, Kristy Cormier, Karen (Nate) Golden, Duane (Courtney) Cormier, Joel Cormier, Samuel (Janike) Cormier, Rose (Andrew) Cormier, and Daniel (Leah) Cormier; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Lionel (Thelma) Cormier; sisters, Helen Clark; Bobbie Ledoux; Lorena Cammareri; and Rose Cormier; and many nieces and nephews.
The Cormier family will receive friends from 1 - 3 PM Monday, September 12, 2022, at East Lawn Funeral Home. with a graveside service to start at 3 PM with Pastor Tim D. Cormier officiating, and the burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park, all the same day.
There will be a Memorial Homegoing Service for Rev. Burnice Cormier at Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, 2143 Hwy 126, Bristol, TN, at 2 PM on Saturday, September 17, 2022. All family and friends are invited to come celebrate the life and homegoing of this precious child of God.
