Carl J. Williams, age 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior and Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 28, 2016. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He was a Christian and member of Reservoir Road Baptist Church for 47 years. During his years at Reservoir Road Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, Training Union Director; and was always faithful until his illness prevented him from attending. Carl was an EMT for Kingsport Lifesaving Crew for a number of years and he was a huge Kentucky basketball fan. He retired early from CSX Railroad after 23 ½ years because of his illness. He battled MS for 33 years and Lymphoma for 1 year before going to his Heavenly home. He was always a witness for the Lord wherever he went and never lost his faith; although he faced many trials.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly and Thelma Williams; three brothers, Charles, Tommy, and Paul Williams; three sisters, Juanita Williams, Florence Dingus and Alma McIntosh; four nephews and one niece. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shelby Jean Williams: they would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary in September; three daughters, Karla Hammonds and husband Leo, Amy Russell and husband Greg, and Rebecca Reynolds; three granddaughters, Emily Mowell and husband Matt, Jessica Hammonds, and Rachel Reynolds; three grandsons, Ryan Russell, US Navy, Justin Hammonds and Joshua Reynolds; one brother, John Williams and wife Carolyn; one sister, Peggy Barker; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved.
The family would like to thank Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care of Carl, especially Ben, Patsy, Tammy, and Mike; also, Heavenly Sonshine Home Health, especially Karen, and Dr. Richard Reed. We would like to thank Pastor Dale Hughes and the members of Valley View Baptist church for their love and generosity.
