

Charles Hutton Weatherly, Sr., age 80, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2010 surrounded by family at Indian Path Medical Center. He was born April 28, 1930 in Bristol, VA to the late Samuel and Mary Dishner Weatherly and has resided in Kingsport for most of his entire life.
Mr. Weatherly joined the United States Navy proudly serving his country until 1950. He then continued to serve his country in the United States Reserves until 1952. During his years of service in the United States Reserves, he also attended East Tennessee State University.
He was a past member and past president of the Indian Springs Ruritan Club. In addition, he also attended many local events showing his support for his community. Mr. Weatherly had many talents, one being of carpentry skills. Mr. Weatherly experienced many joyous occasions when his grandchildren and great grandchildren were around and shared a special love for them. His giving heart will never be forgotten.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six sisters.
He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 54 years, Betty H. Weatherly, children Charles “Chuck” and wife Jeannie Weatherly, Jr., Greg and wife Terry Weatherly, Sharon Rose Weatherly, and Cynthia and husband Chris Kidder; grandchildren, Stacey Phillips, Chris Short, Amy Weatherly, Briana Short, Lillian Smith; great-grandchildren Madison Short, Peyton Short, Ava Phillips, Emersyn Short; brothers, Sam and wife Joan Weatherly, and James Weatherly; and sister Willie Jo Beard, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5-7pm, Saturday, July 3, 2010 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7pm with Pastor Michael Anglin of Vernon Heights Baptist Church and Dr. Roc Collins of Indian Springs Baptist Church officiating. Family and friends will gather Sunday, July 4, 2010 at 1:15pm at East Lawn Funeral Home to proceed to military graveside services at 2pm.
