Christopher Dean “Chris” Walters, 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, November 11, 2025. He was born May 2, 1950, in Kingsport, Tennessee to the late W.E. and Mella Gay Hicks Walters. Chris was a gifted banjo player and autobody painter, who loved playing music and restoring old cars to their former glory. True to his love of anything involving cars, he also had an extensive automobile memorabilia collection representing many makes and models. Above all, Chris loved his family and friends and cherished the moments spent with them. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his infant twin brother Carry Walters.
He is survived by his sister, Diane Tipton; niece, Keshia Hamblin and husband Derek; nephew, Jonathan Faris; great-nieces whom he adored, Harper and Emersyn Hamblin. Chris is also survived by special friends, Martin Cross, Marion Roberts, Jimmy Fleenor, Rick Tate, Rick Shell, Jerry Keys, and Jamey Killen.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 17, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. until 11:45 A.M. at East Lawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 P.M. in East Lawn Memorial Park’s Garden of Love with Reverend Paul Allison officiating.
Connor Faulk, Timothy Meade, Derek Hamblin, Jerry Keys, Jamey Killen, and Rick Osborne will serve as pallbearers. Chris’s fellow musician friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
