Clay R. Hall, age 93 of Kingsport, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Hall was born on January 3, 1920 in Dungannon, Virginia to the late John Frank and Elizabeth Baldwin Hall and was the 7th of 13 children. He graduated from the National Judicial College. Mr. Hall served as a city councilman in Iaeger, West Virginia; served one term as mayor in Iaeger, West Virginia and served two-four year terms as chief Judge of Magistrate Court of McDowell County, West Virginia. He held an honorary degree as a Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Hall was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, where he served in World War II as a CPL and in the Korean War. He was a member of Reedy Creek Presbyterian Church. Mr. Hall was a proud Mason and Shriner. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers: Lincoln, Elmer, Clarence, Garnett, Coy and Ron Hall; five sisters: Ora Montgomery, Ida Begley, Etta Hall, Gladys Baker and Jean Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Erma A. Hall; one sister, Madalene Murrell; Niece, Tami Minnick and husband Bud, special caregiver, Chris Mattson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. The Funeral Service for Mr. Hall will be conducted on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Marshall D. Steinle, officiating. Entombment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park with full Military Honors. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
