Conell Larkey

Conell Walter “ Red or Poppy” Larkey, age 79, entered into rest December 20, 2011 at his residence. Born in Hiltons, Virginia to the late Walter Haskell and Reba Lena Hobbs Larkey, he has resided in Kingsport since 1958. He served 8 years in the U.S. Navy. " Red" retired from J.P. Stevens after 34 years of employment. Survivors include his wife of 56 ½ years of marriage, Lillie Larkey , two sons, Eugene Larkey and wife Jill, Craig Larkey and wife Michelle, all of Kingsport, three daughters, Barbara Treadway and husband Dale of Meadow Bridge, W. Va., Darlene Pozzie and husband Jerry of Smoot, W. Va., Lisa Vaughn and husband Jeff of Kingsport, sixteen grandchildren, Stephen Powers, Christy Starnes and husband Scott, Jason Powers, Wesley Larkey and wife Amanda, Nikki Larkey, Laura Elizalde and husband Fransciso, Nicholas Pozzie, Eric Pozzie, Dustin Vaughn, Tiffany Lawson and fiancee' Jessee Noe, Natasha Vaughn, Payton Larkey, Ty Larkey, Krystal Nelson, Kala Hobbs, Kelista Noto and husband Chris, twenty one great-grandchildren, Rebecca Starnes, Brady Starnes, Brody Powers, Kadie Larkey, Gunner Larkey, Selena Elizalde, Estefany Larkey, Samaya Elizalde, Christofer Elizalde, Sierra Noe, Lexus Noe, Derrion Vaughn, Kierra Lawson, Hanna Yoakley, Rebecca Moore, Jacob Noe, Isiah, Emmauel, Macie, Khalil, Kolby, one brother Ray Larkey of Hiltons, Va., numerous nieces and nephews, and many special friends including Steve and Teresa Powers, Connie and Leonard, and June Taylor. The family would like to give a special thank you to Becky Sutherland and Josie Jackson for their love and care during Red’s illness. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday, at East Lawn Funeral Home, with a celebration of life service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
