Doris and Keith, I’m very sorry to learn of Don’s passing. He was a wonderful man. I remember when you two of you got married, Doris, and lived close to us. We loved you dearly, still do. You visited often and we had lots of fun. 

I wish we could be at visitation but we won’t be able. Jimmy’s pretty sick and you know my story. We love you so much. You have been and will be in our prayers in the coming days and weeks. May our God bless you with the help you need to get through the difficult days you’re facing.  Sending all our love and prayers to all of you. 

Don was a blessing to our family. He was always so kind and always the gentleman!! He and Doris were the perfect couple. They always supported me as I worked year after year to keep our Staten Reunion going and that meant so much to me.  He always made a point to see if I needed help and if I was okay. Haven’t gotten to see him nearly as much recently but, I know he’s in Heaven and I’ll see him again. That’s our promise from God, as Christians!!

I can't remember when I didn't know Don.  We grew up in the same community and attended the same elementary and high schools. After graduation, I only saw him once before our 25th Baileyton High School reunion. It was a chance in a million that in apprx 1963, while driving on a local road here, in Virginia, on my way home from work, that I saw a car in front of me with TN tags. I pulled up beside the car to find Don and Doris! I was so very surprised - but very happy to see them. We pulled off the road and talked for a while. I learned that they were heading back home after Don's interview for a job with the police department here. I learned later that Don was offered the job but decided it was "too far from home."  

Don and Doris  were a couple to be admired. I remember them riding the school bus - sitting together and with Don's arm around Doris. He was there for her from the very beginning. Their faith in God, their commitment to each other and Don's commitment and service to his community were all very obvious and to be remembered.  Don and Doris attended all our BHS class reunions except for this year - because of Doris' health. (2024 photo attached) Don was always supportive and ready to help in any way. He always made sure that he talked to  everyone because he was concerned about them and their families.  Don will be missed by me and all our classmates. We will remember his smiling face, his gentle way and his kindness. My deepest sympathy, love and prayers to Doris and son, Keith, and all their family.

I went to church with Don for many years. He was a fine man.

Don was my Administrative Lieutenant when I was a young Trooper in the Fall Branch District. He was my advocate when a senior supervisor incorrectly assessed my decision on a midnight shift. I admired him for taking up for me. Later, as Commissioner of Safety under Governor Haslam, I repeated LT Jeffers’ actions from time to time. This was a good man. May God comfort his family and friends…

I was so very saddened to learn of Don’s passing. He was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed by all those he came in contact with during his wonderful life. My sincerest condolences to the family.

My Uncle Don came all the way to IL to see dad’s grave.   He was a man who loved everyone.   I love him dearly.   The comfort I have knowing that all three brothers Don, Dad, and Charles  professed Jesus as Lord is priceless.   I hope those three rascals are enjoying being with each other again in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
