Don retired from Eastman Chemical Company. He proudly served in the US Army as a MP and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and served with the color guard for many years. Don enjoyed time working with and owning Tennessee Walking Horses. In his later years he was the pit crew for his wife’s agility dogs. Don was an avid Nascar fan from the early days up to now.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, mother Mary Jane Whitley Archer and stepfather, Harry Preston Archer.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Moffitt, son Preston and wife Kim, daughter, Sandy Smith, husband Bobby Morgan and sons, Stewart and Ricky Moffitt. Grandchildren, Arya and Alaura, bonus grandchildren, Zach and Josh. Great grandchildren Levi and Logan Salyer.
A military graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11 am, at East Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum of Memories with Chris Brown officiating, or anytime at the home.
