Dorothy Doreen "Dot" Williams
July 5, 1916 – April 12, 2018
Dorothy Doreen Williams, age 101 of Kingsport, entered into the glories of Heaven during the early morning hours of Thursday, April 12, 2018. Dorothy was born on July 5, 1916 in Clinchport, VA to William and Bertha Hall. In 1938 Dorothy married her best friend and love of her life, Mr. J.W. Williams, and after 69 years of a beautiful life together, he preceded her in death on August 26, 2007.
Dorothy was a woman who truly loved life. Her relationship with Jesus was first and foremost in her life. She knew that having a personal relationship with Christ would bless her in all of her other life’s journeys. Dorothy loved her family and she enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed singing praises to her Lord and Savior in the church choir, and her devotion to her family and friends was never questioned.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sunnyside Baptist Church General Fund. The church is located at 406 Cooks Valley Rd, Kingsport, TN 37664, (423)288-5081.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, J.W. Williams; one son, Glen Williams; daughter-in-law, Betty Williams; one brother; and two sisters. She is survived by her son, Ray Williams and wife Lesa; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastors Roy Graves and Jack Parrott officiating. Interment services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery following the service at 2:30 pm.
