

Edith Christaline “Kiki” Basham, 93, entered into eternal rest during the morning hours of Thursday (September 8, 2016). Christaline was born on May 5, 1923 in Bonnyman, KY to the late Homer Lee & Lillian (Shoemaker) Ferguson.
Christaline enjoyed gardening, sewing, basket and quilt making, cooking, board games, and fishing with her constant companion, her husband, Jack. Family was always first and foremost to her. Christaline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Christaline was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Jack E. Basham; brother, Howard Ferguson; sister, Geneva Shields; and son-in-law’s, Jack Gillenwater and Cecil Lester.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Katy Lee Gillenwater and Jacqueline Lester Harrell & husband Bill; three grandsons, David Scott Lester, Mark E. Lester & wife Wendy, and Tommy Hale; great granddaughter, Ashely Danielle Morrell; sister, Pat Bates; special nieces, Diana Shields, Tamara Shields, Donna Jethro, and Linda Drake; special nephew, Bill Bates; and long-time friends, James Byrd and Helen Andrews; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday (September 12, 2016) from 9 to 10 a.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home.
Committal services will be held Monday (September 12, 2016) at 10:00 a.m. in the Christus Garden at East Lawn Memorial Park with Chaplain Tom Edward officiating. Special music will be provided by her loving nephew, Andrew Meeks and niece Donna Bates.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Amedisys Healthcare, Amedisys Hospice, and special caregiver, Wendy Lester for their compassionate love and care.
