Edith Mays

Edith Mays, age 82 of Kingsport, entered into Heaven on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at her residence, with her loving family by her side. Ms. Mays was a native of Mitchell County, NC, and the daughter of the late Horace and Jane Harrison. She was of the Baptist faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Mays, father of her children, Leonard Mays, two sisters, Doris Shaffer and Mamie Kilgore. Survivors include her daughters: Vicki Keys and husband Sam, Jani Mays Powers; sons: Bobby Mays and wife, Kim and David Mays and wife Vickie; grandchildren: Amy, Laura, Wendy, Kathy, Kenny, Tim, Heather, Justin, Casey, Haley and Emily; twenty-two great grandchildren; five brothers and four sisters, along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. The funeral Service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Bogle and Chan Bishop, officiating. Interment will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Everyone is asked to assemble in the funeral home chapel by 12:45 p.m. to go in procession to the gravesite. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
