She was a blessing to her family and all who knew her. Ruth had many dear family and friends waiting waiting for her arrival in her heavenly home.
She died on July 23, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Ruth was born on August 9, 1921 in Sullivan County, Tennessee to Edgar Myers and Mary “Myrtle” Myers. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Coy “Jack” Smith; brother, Donald Myers; grandson, Frank Norris; grandson, James Robert Smith and brother-in-law, Everett Crawford.
Survivors include her sister, Janette Crawford; daughters: Sheila Morris and husband Charlie, Brenda Fleenor and husband Ernest; sons: Winfred Wright and wife Helen, Charles Smith, Robert Smith and wife Janie; granddaughters: Teresa Marshall and husband Donnie, Deborah Smith and husband Mike, Jennifer Smith, Carrie Penwell and husband Jason, Teresa McMurray and husband Danny and Jessica Smith; grandsons: Dale Fleenor and wife Michelle, Jason Smith and wife Heather and David Wright and wife Penny; great granddaughters: Jessica Fleenor and husband Jordan, Sierra Wright, Madison Fleenor, expecting Anabele Fleenor and Shannon Orfield; great grandsons: Donnie Marshall II, Daniel Marshall, Jordan Bright and wife Crystal, Malachi Wright, Colt Fleenor and Robbie (Norris) Frazier and wife Jean; great-great granddaughters: Kailey Finehout, Leah Frazier, Chalin Orfield and Kylie Orfield; great great grandsons: Caden Marshall, Christian Bright and Kameron Hartgrove along with several nieces and nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of life service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with the Reverand Doug Drinnon officiating. No graveside services will be held at mom’s request. Burial will be at Gunning’s Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers are Charlie Morris, Donnie Marshall, David Wright, Randall Crawford, Jeffery Myers and Charlie Fleenor.
