He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and ordained as a United Methodist Minister serving in the Kingsport and Abingdon districts.
Floyd was also a Real Estate Broker, owning “Horne Realty and Investments”. He worked in his younger age at Synaloy Corp.
He was part of the Salem Quartet, gospel singing in many churches throughout East Tennessee. He was also a member of the F&AM Whiteside Lodge 13, Blountville, TN.
Floyd is preceded in death by his wife, Vilas Horne and his parents Mamie Elizabeth and David Vance Horne.
He is survived by his sons, Ronald Horne and wife Wanda and Darrell Horne and wife Debra; three grandchildren: Amy Falin and husband Scott, Joshua Horne and wife Desirae, and Sunshine Bourque and husband Brandon; five great-grandsons: Soloman Falin, Connor Falin, Nicholas Bourque, Colten Bourque and Elijah Horne; sister Maggie Goodman and husband Danny, Providence, NC.; brother Frank Horne and wife Barbara, Ringgold, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Lewis Kizer officiating. Masonic rites will follow presented by the members of Whiteside Lodge 13.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery at 11:00am.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Horne, Connor Falin, Brandon Bourque, Soloman Falin, Scott Falin, and Allen Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Colten Bourque, Nicholas Bourque, and Elijah Horne.
