

Mr. Fred F. Davenport, age 74, of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Friday March 28, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Davenport was born on February 27, 1940, the son of the late Ralph Jackson and Grace Brown Davenport. Mr. Davenport was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Davenport. He was a member of the Sunnyside Baptist Church where he was a very active member for 45 years, serving as deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. He was retired from Eastman Chemical Company after 40 years of service. He was married to the former Betty Fay Strickler who survives. Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Mrs. Betty Fay Davenport. His son and daughter-in-law, Freddy & Lisa Davenport. His daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca & Scott Templeton. One brother, Jerry (Terry) Davenport. One sister, Margie (Hubert) McMullins. Grandchildren, Abbie and Morgan Davenport, and Brayden and Avery Templeton. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Davenport will be conducted on Monday March 31, 2014 at 12 noon from the chapel of the East Lawn Funeral Home with Dr. Roy Graves & Dr. Jack Parrott officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of David in East Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet at the funeral home on Monday at 11:45 and they include; Kelly Strickler, Scott Davis, Tim Davenport, Eric Davenport, Mike Horn and Mark Strickler. The family wishes to send a special “Thank You” to Allison, Janie, Greg and Peggy of Aid & Assist of Bristol, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family lovingly requests memorial contributions may be made to the Sunnyside Baptist Church Building Fund or to Gideon’s International.
