

Hansel McKinley Wallace, 79, passed during the early morning hours of Wednesday (August 30, 2017) following an extended illness with his loving wife by his side. Hansel was born on May 19, 1938 to the late James Artie & Dora Elizabeth (Head) Wallace in Hawkins County, TN. Hansel married the love of his life, Charlotte (Johnson) Wallace on March 18, 1960 and after 57 years of a wonderful marriage, she survives.
Hansel unselfishly served our country in the United States Army. Hansel found solace in carpentry work and working outdoors. He retired from Consolidated Freightways after many years of dedicated service. Hansel was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather; he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Hansel was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward “Ode” and James Leo Wallace; step-sister, Vinnie Davis; and mother and father-in-law, Edgar & Thelma Johnson.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Charlotte Wallace; son, Ricky Wallace; daughters, Cindy Holt & husband Tony and Lisa Thomas & husband Robert; 5 grandchildren; Amanda Stallard, Lauren Allison, Lexie Holt, Matthew Thomas, and Tyler Thomas; 5 great-grandchildren, JoLeigh Allison, Zoy Allison, Vann Allison, Warner Stallard, and Colson Stallard; brothers, James R. “Bud” Wallace & wife Debbie and A.D. Wallace & wife Marsha; sisters, Chloras Marshall and Thelma Freeman; special brother-in-law, Al Freeman; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will greet guests and share memories on Saturday (September 2, 2017) at East Lawn Funeral Home from 12:00 noon to 2 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Bess officiating.
Committal services will be held on Saturday (September 2, 2017) at 3 p.m. in the Christus Garden at East Lawn Memorial Park. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Posts 3/265. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Daniel Carroll and staff for all of their compassionate love and care given to Hansel during his time of need.
