

Hazel Beatrice Lyons, 93, passed away during the morning hours of Saturday (October 8, 2016). Hazel was born on June 10, 1923 to the late Alvin & Josie Norton. Hazel spent her childhood in Greeneville, TN and later moved to Kingsport in 1952 with her husband and children.
Hazel was a meticulous homemaker who had a “knack” for home decorating. Hazel loved to cook, yard work, was an excellent seamstress, loved to read her Bible, and also sit on her front porch with her neighbors and friends. She was a very outgoing and friendly person who never met a stranger and enjoyed making people laugh. Hazel loved visiting and spending time with her family. She was a member of Kingsport First Assembly of God Church. Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend; she will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Claude H. Lyons; son, Marvin J. Lyons; great-grandson, Logan K. Stanley; four sisters, Pauline Pittman, Louise Davis, Margaret Smith, and Ruby Sheets; and four brothers, Fred, Bruce, Paul, and Kenneth Norton.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Shirley Kiser & husband Robert “Todd” of Kingsport; four granddaughters, Candace Stanley & husband Don of Nashville, Julie Castle & husband Larry of Nashville, Kristi Ford of Kingsport, and Kelly Fleenor & husband Shawn of Church Hill; great-grandchildren, Lauren Stanley Layhew & husband Daniel, Eric & Landon Stanley, Colt, Zachary, and David Castle, Campbell, Owen, and Blaklee Fleenor, and Madison, Ashton, and Kyler Ford; two great-great grandchildren, Adallyn Stanley and Gabriel Layhew; brother-in-law, Sam “Junior” Lyons & wife Dora; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Schaeffer & husband Ken, Lucille Norton, and Christine Norton; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday (October 11, 2016) from 5 -7 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, Kingsport, Tennessee. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. David Atkinson officiating.
Committal services will be held Wednesday (October 12, 2016) at 1:00 p.m. in the Garden of Faith at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
