Hazel Wilson Nix, 90, of Kingsport, TN and Grand Bay, AL passed from this life on Sunday (December 18, 2016) in Mobile, AL. Hazel was born on March 21, 1926 in Norton, VA in the Ramsey community to loving parents, Robert Lee & Julia Elizabeth Wilson.
Hazel served her Lord from a tender age and has been an inspiration to not only her family but many "friends like family." She was a faithful caregiver to so many throughout her lifetime, young and old.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by husbands, Kermit Cress, John Kilgore and Pete Nix.
Hazel is survived by her precious children, Wanda Skeen (Dean), Betty Murray Warden, Ray Cress, Johnny Kilgore (Thelma) and Donna Velie (Jeff); Hazel is one of 14 siblings and is survived by three sisters Ann Sturgill, Sarah Dotson, and Bernice Adams (Foister); one brother, Tim Wilson; 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday (December 22, 2016) from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home in Kingsport, Tennessee. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn with Rev. Melburn Farmer officiating.
Committal services will be held on Friday (December 23, 2016) at 11:00 a.m. at Glencoe Cemetery (Big Stone Gap, VA 24219).
There will be a memorial service on Saturday (January 7, 2017) at 6:00 p.m. at Gospel Fellowship Church (12865 Saeger Road, Grand Bay, AL 36541).
