

Helen Lawson Ketron, 87, entered the gates of Heaven during the early morning hours of Monday (April 18, 2016) at her residence with her family by her side after an extended illness. Helen was born May 10, 1928 to the late Bill & Margaret Lawson in Scott County, VA. Helen was a member of Deck Valley Baptist Church (Bristol, TN) for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and traveling. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Nell Mathis Fletcher; and three brothers, Elmer, Ryland, and Tom Lawson. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Denver Ketron; two sons, Michael Ketron & wife Sheila and David Ketron & wife Joy; two daughters, Glenda Shelton & husband Malcolm and Sandra Huff & husband Orville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Lawson; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday (April 21, 2016) from 5 to 7 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Malcolm Shelton and Pastor Larry Bales officiating. Committal services will be held Friday (April 22, 2016) at 1:00 p.m. in the Garden of Apostles at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to: St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105). The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wellmont Hospice, the staff of Home Instead (especially Tammy Hale), Jane Williams, FNP and staff, and the staff of Holston Valley Medical Center.
