Howard Douglas “Doug” Wampler, Jr., age 75 of Kingsport, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville. Mr. Wampler was a Emmett, Idaho native and the son of the late Howard Douglas and Marjorie Wampler, Sr. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Kingsport. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Wampler, sister, Carolyn Garland, son, Keith Wampler and a granddaughter, Riley Hawk.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Wanda Faye Wampler; children: Penny Hawk and husband Van and Brandon Wampler and wife Marcie; daughter-in-law, Josie Wampler; brother, Bill Wampler and wife Marilyn; sister-in-law, Judy Wampler; brother-in-law, Clifford Garland and wife Janet; grandchildren: Adam, Andrew, Amber, Evan and wife Leah, Zachary and wife Priscilla, Marjorie, Jonah, Madalyn, Samuel, Nicolas, Mariah, Maggie and Jon; great grandchildren: Ayla, Noah and Liam along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kingsport. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Church with Bishop David Carter, officiating. Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Morning Star Cemetery, Church Hill. Everyone is asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. for the service. Pallbearers will be Adam Wampler, Andrew Wampler, Evan Wampler, Zachary Wampler, Nick Wampler, Jonah Hawk, Jon Wampler and Samuel Hawk.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints mission fund, 100 Canongate Road, Kingsport, Tennessee 37660.
