

Imogene “Jean” Thurman Davidson, 90, of Kingsport, passed away during the early morning hours of Monday (April 3, 2017) at Indian Path Medical Center after a period of declining health. Imogene was born on December 12, 1926, the daughter of the late Monta & Pearl (Dunham) Thurman.
Jean was saved at an early age and was a Charter Member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church of Kingsport. Jean graduated from Surgoinsville High School in 1945 and attended E.T.S.U. She retired from Eastman Kodak in Technical Services after 42 ½ years of service.
Jean was a kind loving person, she never met a stranger, and made everyone she met her friends. After retirement, she enjoyed working with her hands, drawing, paintings, and writing short stories. Jean’s prayer time was at 3 o’clock in the early morning, praying for her family and friends that was out in sin. She was a great prayer warrior.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Davidson; brother & sister-in-law, M.D. & O’Dell Thurman; sister & brother-in-law, Mildred & Charles Gibbons; brother-in-law, Alvin Goins; niece, Debbie Jones; nephews, Ronnie Gibbons and Josh Jones.
Left to cherish her memories are sisters, Agnes Minor & husband Reed and Louise Goins; brother, James “Jim” Thurman & wife Sharon. Nephews, Larry Thurman and Donald “Eddie” Hicks; nieces, Gwen McGennis, Teresa Phillips, Hope Byrd, Doris Williams, TeRonna Hall, Martha Holbrook, and Carol Bourke; special friends, Sondra Hillman, Alfred & Dorothy Cockrum, Betty Lane, and Catharine & Jonathan McGlasson; several great nieces, nephews, cousins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday (April 6, 2017) from 5 to 7 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow with Dr. Greg Burton, Chaplain Alfred Cockrum, and Rev. David Rossetti officiating.
Committal services will be held Friday (April 7, 2017) at noon in the Garden of Memories at East Lawn Memorial Park.
The family lovingly requests that memorial contributions be sent to Colonial Heights Baptist Church (108 Colonial Heights Road Kingsport, TN 37663) or The First Baptist Church of Church Hill in memory of Mildred Gibbons (202 E. Main Blvd. Church Hill, TN 37642) or Pleasant View Baptist Church in memory of Alvin Goins (2101 Stadium Drive Kingsport, TN 37664).
The family wishes to graciously thank the doctors, nurses, and the entire staff of the fifth floor of Indian Path Medical Center for the wonderful love and care that was given to our sister and our family. It was truly a blessing from God; we truly appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this moment of sorrow; we thank you to the fullest. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
