Imogene Elizabeth Strickler, 90, entered into the loving arms of Jesus during the morning hours of Monday (February 17, 2020). Jean was born on November 7, 1929 in Kingsport, TN to the late Joseph Orgie Light & Hannah Pearl Hite.
Jean was dedicated member of Eastern Star Free Will Baptist Church. She was a wonderful Christian lady whom everyone admired. Her wish was that everyone in her family join her in Heaven. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Mack Strickler; son, Roger Strickler; grandson, Dean Strickler; five brothers, Fred, Howard, Lloyd, “Shortie”, and Raemon Light; half-brother, Maynard Light; and foster sister, Peggy Jordan Light.
Left to cherish her memory are her great granddaughter, Katie Strickler; great great-grandson, Mitchell Strickler; sister-in-law, June Light; foster sister, Sue Light Bowen; special niece and caregiver, Kay Littrell & husband Doug; special friends, Amy Davis and Kelsie Webb; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday (February 19, 2020) from noon to 1 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Rose and Chaplain Steven Spell officiating.
Jean will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband on Wednesday (February 19, 2020) at 2:30 p.m. at Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery (1000 Kendrick Creek Road Kingsport, TN 37663). Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Life Care Center of Gray and her caregiver and niece, Kay Littrell for all the kind and loving passionate care that was given to “Gene” in her time of need.
