Iris M. Robinson

Iris M. Robinson, age 88, went home to with the Lord on June 17, 2011 at the residence of her daughter, Rita Weiberg, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 24, 1923 in Kingsport, Tn. to her parents, Porter Ruble Hixson and Cora Ellen Gray Hixson. She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport. Iris was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Dwane Robinson, daughter Patricia Diane Chase, and her parents. She was a member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class, the Erma Slaughter Circle, and where she also participated in the Upper Crust Senior Group. Iris was a member of the Colonial Heights Home Demonstration Club where she held several offices. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Survivors include two daughters, Rita G. Weiberg and her husband Rudolph, Gwendolyn Jane Robinson all of Kingsport, five grandchildren , Monica Weiberg, Randy (Stacy) Weiberg, Cheryl (Mike) Jenkins, Chris (Kimberly) Chase, Mandy (Kevin) Raville, nine great- grandchildren, four great- great-grandchildren, and son in law Dwayne Chase. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 21st, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel at East Lawn. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 22nd, at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank the Caris Hospice group who provided such loving care and support.
