I am Wendell Watkins one of the the four son's of Jack Watkins. I had many memories us together good and bad. But the good times were better than the bad. I am going to miss my Dad, he was someone I looked up to. If I needed advice or someone to talk to. He was hard to get along sometimes. But I tried my best to overlook it with Gods help. We had disagreements sometimes like some son's did with their fathers. I went home for a few days cooled off. But I couldn't stay away from him, I came back. Like my Ma Maw and I used to say to each other. We are like a puppy dog you can kick us all day long. And we will come back for some more. That is called unconditional love. I loved my Daddy deep down in my heart. I done everything in my heart I could to make him happy. I tried my best to there to help when he needed me. The bible says to honor your Mother and Father and your days will be long. I tried my best to put whatever happened in the past in the past and let it be. He really struggled in the end. But God took over and didn't want him to struggle no more . I love you and miss you and will see you again Daddy. I done my best and I would do it again no matter what.

Myron, I just heard about your Dad. I’m so sorry for your loss. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I wish I could have been at the service. 

Jack should have been a stand up comic....I called him several times about attending a SHS class of '59 reunion., .....he just kept me in stitches  about not having a cell phone so he hooked his tv remote onto his belt and everyone thought he did.......he opened his garage door and was going to shoot down the air balloons that took off fromm the parking lot of Civic Auditorium.......he loved laughter....he was the same way at Pirate's Grill  each morning before school.  

The memory I want to share with his friends is about Jack's interest in information he  had about the lives of other class mates.   He revealed to me that he kept a box of newspaper clippings he would cut from the newspaper....articles on anyone he knew....who had passed from his life.  He read me several of them.....and took notes as I told him names of others who had gone home.    I was so taken by the tenderness of his heart for his friends.  I made him a small album of pictures from
 the 2004 class reunion at Ridgefields.....he was so touched by seeing the faces of his friends once again....Joyous is a good word for Jackie......God rest your soul Jackie.

So saddened to just now learn of Jackie’s passing.   Jackie was my training officer my first week out of the THP academy in 1988.   One of the best weeks of my career.   Even though I didn’t see him after he retired, I still think of him often.   He was such a character and so much fun to be around.   Prayers for his family that they know how much Jackie meant to so many and that the Lord gives them peace during their grief.   -  Mark Musick

I'm very sorry that I have always lived so far away from home and never got to know Jackie better.  He was always a very nice person in high school and I enjoyed knowing him.  My prayers to his family.

Jackie and i were neighbors on the same street in the early fifties.Lots of memories.Condolences too all family members and friends.Every time the sun goes down it takes somebody with it.

Jack was one of my favorite people that I ever worked with on the THP during my 40 year career. He cared about people and had such a great sense of humor that leaves me with memories still today. RIP Jack. 

We are saddened to hear about the loss of Mr. Watkins. My mom always talked fondly of him, and enjoyed there phone conversations. It always seemed to brighten her day.

I worked with Jackie many years and he was always a very good friend and so kind.  He enjoyed life and always had us laughing.  He will be missed.  His memory will be a blessing.
