Jacob Michael Bowery, a beloved, devoted, and kind-hearted individual, passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 47. Born on February 18, 1978, in Kingsport, Tennessee, Jacob spent his life in his hometown, where he was a cherished member of the community.
Jacob graduated from Sullivan Central High School and grew up in Kingsport, Tennessee. His greatest accomplishment was being a father to his daughter, Rylee. He was completely committed to being a good father to her, serving as her biggest cheerleader and fan, often the loudest at her volleyball and softball sporting events. He attended as many of her games as possible, even when he was sick.
In his personal life, Jacob loved to cook and enjoyed following University of North Carolina athletics, avidly watching their football, baseball, and basketball teams. He was also known for his willingness to help anyone he could and always tried to look after his family.
Jacob is survived by his daughter, Rylee Bowery; his brother, Seth Bowery (Marissa); his father, James "Mike" Bowery; his mother, Angela "Rayna" Bowery; his maternal grandmother, Peggy Moody; his aunt, Kay (Moody) Thomas (Jim Thomas); his uncle, Michael Moody; his aunt, Vickie Carter (Mike); his aunt, Carolyn Morelock (Howard) (Deceased); his aunt, Phyllis Hill (Gary); his uncle, Claude Bowery, Jr.; his aunt, Tammy Bowery; his aunt, Dora Coomer (Larry); his nephews, Braeden Bowery and Elliot Bowery; as well as several cousins, numerous friends, and countless people who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jessica Bowery; his paternal grandparents, Esther Bowery (Claude); his maternal grandfather, Howard Moody, Jr.; and his uncle, Ralph Bowery (Liz).
Visitation will be held on January 27, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park, located at 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm at the same location. A graveside committal will take place on January 28, 2026, at 2:00 pm at East Lawn Memorial Park.
