

Jakkae was employed at Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital with Solstas Laboratory for the past 42 years as a Medical Lab Tech. Jakkae was also employed at Mountain Empire Community College for approximately 25 years; teaching Red Cross, First Aid, DMV Drivers Education Class, as well as classes under the Health Sciences Program. During his life, he also served on the Duffield Town Counsel and Scott County Rescue Squad. Jakkae found solace in the simplest things in life. He was an avid bowler and never met a stranger.
Jakkae was preceded in death by his parents, James & Edna Jackson; and one sister, Aeyrer Smithers.
He leaves to mourn seven brothers, Yanthophophalees of Big Stone Gap, VA, Breauster (Brenda) of Fort Washington, MD, Grayland (Tonya) of Nashville, TN, Arriod (Gwendolyn) of Fort Washington, MD, Xavier of Charlottesville, VA, Klaistrae (Monica) of Lexington, KY, and Eupton (Sheri) of Bowie, MD; four sisters, Eileen of Church Hill TN, Ivy Adekoya (Nelson) of Grayson, GA, Ayris of Big Stone Gap, VA, and Jamara (Jamar) Davis of Elkton, VA; very devoted nephew, Brian Zander (Jami); special cousin, Saundra Rickman; extended family, the Dorton Family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday (December 16, 2016) from 5 to 8 p.m. at New Hope Assembly of God (1405 1st Ave East, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219).
Funeral services will be held Saturday (December 17, 2016) at 11 a.m. at New Hope Assembly of God (1405 1st Ave East, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219). Committal services will follow in the Garden of Devotion at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens (5650 Powell Valley Road, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219).
