

James T. Clubb, age 85, fought a hard battle with colon cancer, but he won, and he went home to be with the Lord on April 5, 2012. He was born in Cosby, Tennessee, grew up in Newport, and has lived in Kingsport since 1946. James was a proud and valiant member of the U.S. Navy having fought in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired after thirty-nine years of service with Mason-Dixon. James was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church, the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign War and Teamster Local 549. Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Mildred Clubb of Kingsport; two sons, James Franklin Clubb and his wife Sharon of Kingsport, William Jessee Clubb and wife Mary Jane of Pensacola, Florida, four grandchildren, Jennifer Akers and husband Shawn of Kingsport, Lindsey Ballard and husband Jake of Stickeyville, Virginia, Jonas T. Clubb and Jessee B. Clubb both of Kingsport; five great-grandchildren, Timothy, Byron, Bailey, Benjamin, Brayden; one sister, Betty Harrison of Newport, Tennessee; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at East Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sullivan Baptist Church Building Fund.
