

James G. McQueen, age 81, entered into rest February 14, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a native of Scottsboro, AL and was a longtime resident of the Mt. Carmel area. Jim was formerly employed with Penn-Dixie and was a member of Freedom Independent Missionary Baptist Church. Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman, a NASCAR enthusiast and a member of the Cherokee Rod and Gun Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, James C. and Pearl McFarland McQueen. Survivors include his wife, Gay McQueen of Mt. Carmel; one son, Michael McQueen of Kingsport; one daughter, Linda Wines of Jonesborough; four grandchildren, Robert Wines, Charles Wines both of Jonesborough, Jennifer Wines of Kingsport, Seth McQueen; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
