

James “Jim” Joseph Thomas, age 75 of Blountville, entered into eternal grace with his Heavenly Father on Friday, December 16, 2016. Jim was born on April 22, 1941 in Rockford, IL to the late Nicholas Thomas and the late Ann Pasdo Thomas. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Annette Domico, and after 49 years of a beautiful life together, she preceded him in death on May 6, 2011.
Jim graduated from Notre Dame University in 1963 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jim served in the U.S. Army for four years and achieved the rank of Captain. In 1974 Jim moved his family to Kingsport to continue his work at Eastman Kodak, where he worked for 29 years before retiring in 1994. In March of 1991, Jim and Annette founded and operated Countryside Vineyards and Winery located in Blountville. Jim was a well-balanced man and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and he was known for his famous story-telling. Jim was a proud member of TVOS for many years and he will greatly miss all his friends at their monthly gathering where they enjoyed fellowship together and a glass of wine.
Jim loved his family and his love continues on through the lives of his family members and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his loving wife, Annette Thomas. Left to carry on his legacy are his sons, Nick Thomas and wife Sharon, Sam Thomas and Sharon White, Joe Thomas and wife Cathy, and James Thomas and wife Nicole; grandchildren, Michael Thomas and wife Nicole, Nico Thomas and girlfriend Ariel, Maria Sargent, Erica Thomas, Joey Thomas, Laura Thomas, and Christian Thomas; and two great-grandchildren, Issaiah Sargent and Brentley Sargent.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 7:00 pm immediately following the visitation with Father Bill Gahagan officiating. There will be a military honors entombment service held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park with family members serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 3/265.
