James Edd Justus, age 92, entered into rest May16, 2012 at Wexford House. Born in Blackey, Virginia, a son to the late Paris and Virgie Justus, Edd was a longtime resident of Blountville. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and had retired from Cortrim. Edd will be remembered for his love of serving the Lord, and his passion for his fiddles, the playing and making of them. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Genette Justus. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dr. Virginia Shankel-Justus of Blountville; one son, Edward Justus and wife Phyllis of Hermitage, TN.; two daughters, Carol Robinette and husband Jeff of Fall Branch, Gail Reed and husband Jerry of Kingsport; granddaughters, Johanna Justus, Jessica Davidson-Daniel, Donna Absher-Daniel, Marcy Kirkpatrick-Casey, Joi Harrell-Patrick, Erin Reaves-Clark; great-grandchildren, Justin Moody, Kasey Ferguson, Whitney Liner, Reed Harrell, Jordin Harrell, Nathan Davidson, Sarah Davidson, Paul Davidson, Julia Davidson, John Davidson, great-great-granddaughter, Naommi Liner; brothers and sisters, Geneva Workman of WA., Thurman Justus of West VA., Josephine Workman of WA., Alkie Zandecki of WA., Beatrice Blankenship of OH., Mary Jane Bradshaw of WA., Curtis Justus of GA.; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at East Lawn Funeral Home, with a celebration of life service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the buildings funds at Sunnyside Baptist Church or Sullivan Baptist Church or the Gideon’s.
