James David Starnes, age 74, of Bristol, Tennessee went into the arms of Jesus February 21, 2022. He was born in Kingsport where he graduated for Lynn View High School. From 1968 to 1970, he served in the Army in Germany. He was proud to serve his country and continued to support the men and women in uniform. James was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Blountville. He loved his church family and read and studied his Bible daily.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James M. and Virginia Starnes, and newborn daughter Mary Virginia.
James was married 39 years to Debi Starnes. Also, he is survived by his son, David Allen Starnes; his daughter, Angela Starnes Harr and husband Joshua McKinsey Harr; his two brothers, Glenn Starnes and Grover Starnes; niece Rose Michelle Walters; his wife's sister, Kathy Franklin and nephew Lucian Franklin; wife's cousin, Susie Harris.
James will be missed more than words can say.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00am at Charity Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am at the church with Pastor Dillon White Officiating.
James will be laid to rest on Monday, February 28, 2022 at 2:00pm at Mt. Home National Cemetery. The committal service will be held at the Historic Pavilion in the old section of the cemetery.
Military Rites will be bestowed by the American Legion Post 3/265.
