

James Edward Tate, 71, beloved husband, father, papaw, brother, and uncle, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on February 29, 1944, in Raysal, WV to the late Paul Jackson Tate Sr. and Lida Kathleen Hughes Tate. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers: Charles Tate, Ricky Tate, Larry Tate, Bill Tate, Jack Tate, and Bobby Tate.
Mr. Tate served our country in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam and Desert Storm.
Left to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 46 years, Nyoka Isom Tate; son, James Patrick Tate and wife Leslie; daughter, Shaylinda D. Tate and partner Reggie Ramey; sisters, Edna Simmons, Frances Tate, Pam Willis and husband Shayne; grandchildren, Holly Ramey, Ashley Ramey, Reggie Ramey, Jr., Jameson Tate, Charlotte Tate; sister-in-law, Kathy Tate; niece, Becky Barrett and husband Rodney; nephews, Danny Tate and wife Angel, Michael Isom and wife Denise, Clouyad Isom and wife Heather; uncle, George Davis; special friends at the Village at Allandale, Dava Snyder and Maggie Christian.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 10, 2015, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at East Lawn Funeral Home in Kingsport, Tennessee. Funeral Services for Mr. James Edward Tate will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 7:00pm in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor John Love officiating. Graveside service will be held at 9:30 am on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #3-265 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Shayne Willis, Danny Tate, Jeff Winegar, Reggie Ramey, Jack Gilliam, Rodney Barnett, and Anthony Davis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Dishner, George Davis, Paul Salyers, and Sonny White.
