

She was born August 29, 1934, in Sullivan County, Tennessee to the late Melvin and Bertie Felty Shaffer. Jeannette was a member of the Grace Way Quartet. She loved being outside enjoying God’s creation, especially her flowers and gardens. She retired from Eastman Chemical Company after many years of service and later worked in Dr. Gillenwater’s Chiropractic office. She adored her family, and above all, she was a devout and faith Christian who loved Jesus. She was a life-long member of Throne of Grace Baptist. Although her family will miss her dearly, they know they will see her again.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Bright, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her siblings, Linda Feathers, Richard Shaffer, Donnie Shaffer, and June Poe; her special baby girl, Teresa Hutchins; special niece, Carolyn Hilton; special friends, Brenda and Willard Hickman. Jeanette is also survived by several special nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Ballad Health Hospice for all their dedication, care, and concern during Jeanette’s illness.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 1:00 P.M. until 1:50 P.M. at East Lawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with her brother, Pastor Donald Shaffer, officiating. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
