

Surrounded by his loving family, Jimmie Lee Vaughn, age 84, passed away at his home on Monday (December 25, 2017). Jimmie was born in Tennessee on June 19, 1933 to the late Clyde & Cosbie Jenkins Vaughn.
Jimmie married the love of his life, Virginia (Potts) Vaughn on February 13, 1952, and after 64 years of a wonderful marriage, she survives. Jimmie unselfishly served our country in the United States Army from 1952-1955. Jimmie retired from Eastman Kodak in 1995 after 28 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. Jimmie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his son, Jimmie Wayne Vaughn; six brothers, Reasor, Curtis, Paul, Gerald, Ray, and Bobby Vaughn; and two sisters, Betsy Freeman and Lewanda Jenkins.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia Vaughn; daughter, Debra Dove & husband Gary; son, Michael Vaughn; three brothers, Bill, Sherril, and Ronald Vaughn; sister, Betty Barr; nine grandchildren, Dennis, Shane, Tamara, Jennifer, Angie, Kerri, Dylan, Ariel, and London; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Gwen, Callie, Megan, Luke, and Liam; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will greet guests and share memories on Friday (December 29, 2017) from noon to 2 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Will Shewey officiating.
Committal services will be held at 3 p.m. in the Garden of the Good Shepherd at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice (106 Ferrell Ave. Suite #1 Kingsport, TN 37663).
