John Lawson Cameron, age 86, of Kingsport, left this world for his heavenly home on Saturday, May 2, 2026. He was born on January 14, 1940, in Nashville, TN, to the late John and Dorothy Cameron. John was a proud Vanderbilt University graduate and retired from Eastman Chemical after 34 years as a principal chemical engineer. Known for his unwavering faith, he was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. As a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John radiated love and warmth, supporting not just his family but also their friends, always striving to be a role model for those around him. John truly cherished time spent with his family, particularly during holidays when everyone was together. In his leisure hours, he found happiness in outdoor activities, whether it was shooting trap, playing golf or fishing and hunting and loved being a woodworker. Each moment was an opportunity for him to create lasting memories and share his passions with others.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 62 years Carolyn Rice Cameron; sons Chris Cameron (Sheila) and Mike Cameron (girlfriend Lisa); grandchildren Ashley Webb (John) and Caroline Cameron; great-granddaughter Eliza Webb; brother-in-law Carter Rice; along with many other family and friends that loved him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at East Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Dr. Greg Burton officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.
