He was born March 29, 1952, in Bristol, Virginia to the late Dennis Fleet and Frances Gobble Hogan.
John was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved cheering on the Tennessee Vols and spending time fishing. To say that he was an avid golfer is an understatement. Much of his retirement was spent on the golf course as a member of the Senior League, where he developed many enduring friendships. John was a humble man who could tell a good story and loved his 2000 corvette. Above all, John adored his family, especially his sons.
He is survived by his sons, John Hogan, Jr. and Matthew Hogan and wife Amber; brothers, Stephen Hogan and Dennis Hogan and wife Peggy; sister, Judi Webb; girlfriend, Rebecca Meadows; two grandchildren, Cameron and Cayne. John is also survived by several extended family members, friends, and his golfing buddies.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 9, 2026, at East Lawn Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories Mausoleum with Pastor Jody Jenkins officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 3/265. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to arrive at the mausoleum by 12:50 P.M.
East Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park is honored to serve the family of Mr. John Richard Hogan, Sr.
